From Marine & Aviation to MAG Group: an all-Italian success story.

The courage of ideas for a story
that has sustained the visionary nature
of Italian entrepreneurship.

MAG's story began more than 40 years ago with its first company, Marine & Aviation, founded in 1978 by Vincenzo Impronta. After only 5 years it was accredited as Lloyd's Correspondent and Coverholder of Lloyd's of London and in 1993 it established Marine Aviation & General Ltd (MAG Ltd) - Lloyd's Broker in London, thus becoming the first Italian company to have direct access to the Lloyd's market through one of its subsidiaries.

The following decade saw the creation of CR Marine Aviation in 2009, a company specialised in Marine & Hull and established in partnership with the Genoese company Cambiaso Risso Marine.

In 2011 the partnership with Jardine Lloyd Thompson was finalised, thus forming a strategic alliance based on a strong international network in 180 countries worldwide.  This alliance gave birth to a new company, MAG-JLT, with a stronger strategic positioning.

2012 is the year of the Group's marked expansion in size and activity, achieved through three targeted acquisitions:

  • 100% of the operations of UBI Insurance Broker, allowing MAG to acquire strategic expertise and resources in the management of financial institutions;
  • 75% of the capital of Uniconsult, specialising in the construction sector;
  • 100% of Fincom 2, a broker specialising in financial activities and Affinity programmes.

The policy of consolidating the Group through strategic incorporations continues over the years with the acquisition in 2016 of 'RS Risk Solutions Insurance Broker' (insurance broker specialising in the Affinity and Middle Market sectors) and Mondial Broker (specialising in Cash in Transit).

2018 marks the Group's first 40 years in business. It is also the year in which Goggi Sterling is acquired, a widely renowned company dedicated to goldsmiths and jewellers, a reference broker for the whole of Italy.

In 2020, the Group continued its policy of expansion, with the acquisition of 'Oxerisk', a Florentine broker, while thanks to the commercial agreement with Arthur J. Gallagher, the fourth largest insurance broker in the world, it forged new partnerships at an international level.

Having consolidated its national position and strengthened its already solid international network, MAG Group was created in 2020.

A group that reaffirms its Italian identity and independence as its distinctive features.

In July 2021, MAG acquired 75% of Gruppo Centrale S.p.A., a company operating in the brokerage and related services sector, leader in the Marche and Umbria regions. With this transaction, Gruppo MAG S.p.A further strengthens its presence in Italy, already consolidated in over forty years of activity, during which it has supported hundreds of Italian companies, placing them at the centre of the international insurance market.

2023 saw the acquisition of Dedalo Broker, one of the leading players in the credit risk field. Today renamed MAG CREDIT RISK, it stands as a reference specialty in the market in terms of credit risk management and consultancy.
